Paper Star Lantern

I found some unique décor for a corner in my family room. I have a couch that sits at a diagonal. There is an outlet behind the couch but there isn’t an easy way to get back there without climbing over or moving the couch. I really wanted to put a light feature in the space but didn’t want to have to modify or install anything expensive and permanent. I found the perfect solution by hanging a paper star lantern with a very cool design and using a Philips Hue smart bulb. The smart bulb allows me to turn the light on and off from an app on my phone. I can also dim the light from the app. You can connect the smart bulb to an Amazon Echo as well and then use your voice to turn it on or off. I’ll work on connecting that soon and as I add more smart bulbs to my home!

I absolutely love the paper star. They come in many different colors with intricate cutout designs. In addition to the star I needed a 12-foot power cord and the Philips Hue bulb with hub. It really is very tranquil and beautiful. The pictures don’t give it justice. I used Command damage free cord mounting clips and one metal screw in hanging hook. I put one of the Command clips about 2 inches from the hanging screw and hung the star close to the ceiling to spread some of the weight so I wouldn’t have to use a heavier hook. I spent around $100 total. I hope that you find some inspiration in this easy project!
